OUR COVID TESTING PROCEDURES

Our Testing Procedures Comprise the following elements:

Sampling:

We provide the training and test kits to Corporates to ensure that samples are obtained in the workplace. Employees provide samples through an Oral swab under the supervision of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officers allocated to the Company from RUBIC. As an alternate approach, Companies can provide Saliva Samples, which does not require OHS Officers to wear PPE. The preferred approach is based on the requirements of Companies in terms of a dedicated OHS Officer to manage workplace COVID Testing and Reporting.

Logistics:

Our samples are transported to our central testing site in Durban using secure temperature-controlled packaging. This ensures that the samples are intact. Samples are transported within 6 hours of pickup from site.

Extraction:

Samples are extracted and amplified in our SANAS-accredited facility under the supervision of trained technicians. This process takes approximately 6 hours to complete.

RT-PCR Testing:

This is the gold standard in terms of COVID-19 testing. We have 3 dedicated PCR machines with the ability to conduct 380 tests per 30-minute cycle. We have trained and qualified technicians analyzing and validating the results to ensure the integrity of the tests.

Reporting:

We have a team of laboratory personnel, medical doctors and occupational health practitioners reporting the results to companies and individuals. In addition we provide health counselling services to COVID-19 positive patients to ensure the patients receive the best advise and medical care.

OUR INFRASTRUCTURE

We have the following facilities, centralized in Durban:

  • A SANAS-accredited Extraction Facility; and RT PCR Testing Equipment.
  • We are capable of managing approximately 2400 tests per day.
  • In addition we have a staff of 14 lab technicians, all trained in current CDC Best Practice RT PCR Testing.
  • We have a logistics company that will ensure samples provided by clients are transported to Durban within 8 Hours of samples provided by Clients.
  • We have a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) that ensures all patient data is captured and secured and to facilitate reporting to Patients, Corporate HR or OHS Officers, based on a mobile notification platform.
  • Our systems also ensure we are able to report directly to NICD.

• Extraction and PCR Testing: We utilize gold standard FDA approved reagents and testing protocols for our COVID 19 tests. We ensure results are provided within 24 hours of samples being received in our testing facilities. We also include Occupational Health and Safety Officers dedicated to corporates to conduct workplace testing and reporting. 
• Safe and Secure Logistics to ensure samples are transported within 6 hours to our testing facilities.
